Kevin's 100 day, One Cross Trainer, 599Km Challenge
Challenge completed! Finished the distnace on the 20th December. The cross trainer is now a valued piece of equipment loved by all!
My employer (Vodafone) are running a 100 day JustTextGiving challenge, starting in September and running through to December 24th 2013. Not sure why, but I decided I'd set myself the challenge of completing 599 km on my clothes horse (aka Bertha the evil cross trainer) over the 100 days. Why 599km - well a text code has to have four letters and two numbers - hence S99 looks like 599, hence DMDS99!A certain individual then thought it'd be a good plan to suggest that I complete the challenge during a party on the 20th December - hence this new measure has been named 'the Bartlett Index'. During the challenge, I have also undergone a radical haircut (not my usual style to have a haircut, let alone a radical one!) plus sculpted facial hair in a range of styles.
The challenge, whilst physical, has proven to be mentally far tougher than I'd expected - 50mins on a cross trainer per night, with only an Ipod for company is seriously dull. It's your messages of support (and cash!) that have been keeping me going - that and the thought that every step I take is a step that Hayden will be unable to take when he is mid teens, unless a treatment is found....
On the 15/12, the km total stands at 572.2km complete, £578 raised so far (matched funding still to be added) plus £116 gift aid - many thanks for your generosity.
There have been a number of photo's taken during the challenge, that have appeared on social media sites - they are also included below for you amusement (and my embarrassment) !

Estimate for amount riased (after matched funding) is a fantastic £34,690!
Wow, what a fantastic event! Thankyou so much to all those who attended. The attendance count was 1900, no doubt helped by the best weather of the year so far - told you we had booked it! Great to see so many colleagues, friends and families there, having fun, enjoying the entertainment, bands, reverse bungee, food and not to mention beer & pimms! The event had a great friendly, safe, fun, family atmosphere that all who attended commented on. The auction raised £7200. We sold 1700 raffle tickets.

Hope Springs Exhibition
HOPE SPRINGS Exhibition
opened on Saturday 27th April for one week and raised £261 for Action Duchenne!
Helping Hayden would like to say a huge thankyou to Kareen Jackson for this inspired event, mentoring the children in production of their own art (very brave!) and for all the exhibiting artists
In the 'Little Bird Studio' , Barley Fields, Baydon, was an exhibition showing wonderful inspiring works by eighteen local artists ranging from glass, photography and painting.
In the glass and oak garden room was a lively and diverse exhibition of canvases painted by thirty local children.
The exhibition was held to raise money and awareness of Muscular Dystrophy. This awful disease affects two Baydon families. A percentage of all artworks and postcards sold was donated to Action Duchenne - the charity that Helping Hayden fund raises for.

Helping Hayden 2013 Ball
One amazing night - 120 amazing people!
The Helping Hayden 2013 ball was held at the Donnington Valley Hotel on Saturday 9th March.
We and our families would like to offer heartfelt thanks to all who came to the event, all that donated to the cause and all the organisations and individuals that donated their time, resources and auction items for the event. We really appreciate your support.
It gives me great pleasure to pass on the news that the event raised £6444.55 on the night! In addition, we received donations before the and after the event indluding friends and family unable to make it to the ball. Furthermore a painting donated to us sold in ‘the Craftsmen’ plus Vodafone Foundation provided matched funding for Vodafone staff who contributed to the event (a further £2800). The final total came in at £10,038! Fantastic!
We wish to thank the following individuals for their time and generosity
Sheila Rawlings, Mr & Mrs Hutton, Mr and Mrs Lines, Martyn Clark, Mr & Mrs Taylor, Debbie from Baydon stores, Rosie & Sue, Mr K. Salvadori, Mrs K. Jackson, Gloria & Joan Blore
I also owe my sister a huge debt of gratitude - avoiding running and instead organising the ball was not the easy option!
